“What is Nerd City?”

In the simplest of terms-it’s an online magazine, (NOT a blog), devoted to nerd interests. It is published bi-weekly. In more writerly terms, it’s an internet oasis for nerds to discuss, criticize, exalt, and generally ruminate on things that are relevant to them, (and not necessarily relevant to anyone else.) Contrary to popular belief, it is not a real geographical place, but more of a descriptor, as in “You won your elementary school’s spelling bee? Nerd City!”

“Well, then, what exactly is a nerd?”

The good old Webster’s defines a nerd as an “unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person, especially: one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits.” That’s a good starting point, but we here at Nerd City are a little bit loose in our definition, in that we suspect everyone, not just studious folks or social failures, has an inner nerd living inside of them which they choose to either hide or reveal. So, Nerd City sometimes crosses over and discusses things of a more mainstream nature, but always from a slightly skewed viewpoint. The result can sometimes seem plagued by randomness, but trust us; we know what we’re doing.

Just read it, you’ll figure it out.
