| Don’t Bother Me, I’m Thinking with Medulla Vesuvius
“…Wounds My Harp with a Monotonous Languor”
Dear Readers, do you ever take the time to stop and think about the possibility that the universe and the people and events contained therein are converging in a suspiciously meaningful way in your own tiny life? I don’t. But I do find it amusing that within the last couple of months I have found myself engaged in conversation with someone about the harpsichord. And in both cases, the other person has deferred to me as if I was some kind of expert. I don’t know where they got that idea. I’ve never even played one before. But I do know a little about it. The one common question people have is- “what’s the difference between the harpsichord and the piano?” |

Happy All Saints Eve
Halloween is awesome. It is a time of the year that one of my nerd traits is equalized by society. I loved, okay love, dressing up into alter egos. I do not just mean comic book characters. I would dress up as Mr. T, Vanilla Ice, Condor Man, Ninja, Caveman, Guitar Guy, and anybody else for whom I could put a hodge podge of an outfit together. This would all be on your average afternoon, and have nothing to do with Halloween. Then that great and glorious time of the year would come when the world would dress up with me. I started smelling candy, pumpkins and Charlie Brown shows in August. My mom would take me to the fabric store with her, and I would pick out the pattern for almost whatever costume I wanted. I was never allowed to be a ninja. They are evil men of no moral or ethical boundaries, according to my dad, but I could be a Samurai. They have morals and ethics when they kill people I guess. |

Booster Gold
DC Comics: Holding those Characters that defined the Modern Day American Hero, with the rules of holding up Truth, Justice and the American way. They have rules like “Never take a life,” and “Save everyone at all costs,” which throw the heroes into a moral struggle with justice and vengance. They are noble, and almost unreachable. Almost… No hero can just do it for the sake of doing right. Right? Well that’s what Booster Gold said. So for all you shining Capitalists out there who find that one should really just be out to make the money: here is the hero for you, The true defender of the American Way. |

Congraduations
We here at Nerd City want to extend our most sincere congratulations to Amdnarg-Toh, one of our technical writers, on his recent graduation from the University of Illinois at Effingham. It was no small feat for him to attend college full time in addition to the tiresome work he performed here at Nerd City. His faculty advisor stated “Along with being the only mountain dwarf in his family to ever attend college, he has excelled in many academic pursuits, not the least of which being his studies in Argumentative Rhetoric, rising to star placement as a Master Debater on the debate team. We’re extremely proud of him here at Eff U.” |

Terminator vs Max Cady
Max Cady begrudgingly exited the Sundown Tavern and heard the lock click behind him. Closing time had snuck up on Cady tonight and while he had drunk his share, he would definitely have hit it a little harder had he known it was almost last call. Still, he had a decent buzz and that would have to suffice for the time being. It was a several block walk to Cady’s home from the bar and he held his jacket close to his body in an effort to block the bitter cold wind from the East. Coming upon an alley he was startled to see a blinding flash of light erupt from deep inside just before he passed by. Curious, Cady peeked his head down the darkened back street to see what had caused the light. He didn’t see anything that looked like it could have birthed the light but was momentarily stunned when he saw a massive nude man rise from the shadows. |
